Cutie Activity - Shy Karin
Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
"I'm shy. I’m not as chatty as my friend Adam but I like to listen and see what’s going on around me.”
What do you like doing?
“I always get fun ideas of things I’d love to build when I watch my friends playing. Right now, I’m building a super-masher for my friend Charlie who’s bananas about bananas!"
For some, shyness can have a less positive meaning. We see a shy person as someone who takes their time to warm up to new people and environments. They don’t tend to take much space from others and so may prefer to reflectively pay attention to what people are saying and doing. At best, an attentive person is sensitive to noticing other’s emotions or other kind of needs and creatively connect to these with understanding. Did you know just how many famous reflectors and innovators like Albert Einstein had this personality type?
Our Cutie, Karin, is just that individual who takes her time to learn things by observing and who is good at listening to her friends. She is very skillful with her hands and so each time she sees there is a need, she likes to invent and fix all kinds of things. The rest of the Cuties are always eager to learn from her!
Is your child or someone you know shy like Karin? How do they interact in a new environment?
We look forward to exploring more about this topic together with Karin later during the year. Stay tuned!
